Upper East region: Nine shot dead in Pusiga by unknown gunmen

 


In a tragic incident in Pusiga, Upper East Region, nine individuals lost their lives during an attack on two buses. Reports from Citi News indicate that the attackers intercepted the buses en route from Cinkaasi in neighboring Togo to Bawku, blocking them at the Gbewaa College of Education police checkpoint and subsequently opening fire.


Security agencies have swiftly responded and are currently at the scene, evaluating the situation. The police have yet to release the identities of the victims, and the motive behind the attack remains unknown. This incident occurs during a period of heightened tension in the Upper East Region, marked by recent clashes between different ethnic groups.



In the aftermath of the attack, injured individuals have been promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, while the deceased have been transferred to a morgue.
