The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has referred Sefwi Wiaso College of Education to the Attorney General due to procurement breaches totaling GH¢276,807.22. PAC Chairman Mr. James Klutse Avedzi announced this during a sitting in Sunyani. Other institutions, including Bia Lamplighter and Al-Faruq Colleges of Education and Kumasi and Sunyani Technical Universities, were also scrutinized.
The College's procurement actions, which lacked proper procedures and alternative quotations, were deemed a clear violation of the law by Mr. Avedzi. Auditors recommended adherence to the Public Procurement Act, 2003 (Act 663), and potential sanctions for the institution's management.
Mr. Avedzi advised the College's Principal and Finance Officer to prepare explanations when summoned. The Committee also addressed various infractions by these institutions, such as unauthorized educational portal usage, unpaid hostel fees, loss of rental revenue, unaccredited programs, and more.
