Five T.I Ahmadiyya SHS students arrested for stabbing 12 Form 2 student

Five students from Gomoa Potsin T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School are now in custody for their involvement in a violent attack that left 12 Form 2 students injured. The perpetrators, primarily Form 3 students, executed a nighttime assault on their fellow students in retaliation for a prior altercation between one of their colleagues and a junior student.

Led by some final-year students, the attackers exploited the darkness on campus following lights-out and launched their assault on the unsuspecting Form 2 students, who were already in bed. They used knives and clubs to attack some victims and disoriented others with flashlights.

Although the school's security team and the Potsin Neighborhood Watch Committee responded promptly, the attackers managed to injure 12 of their fellow students. The injured victims were taken to the Potsin Polyclinic for medical attention.

Close sources have indicated that this assault was retribution for a previous altercation in which an SHS 2 student had slapped a senior SHS 3 student on Friday, September 8, 2023. While a member of the group planning the attack had discreetly warned some SHS 2 students about the impending assault, the information was not shared until the attack took place.

In a related incident, another student returning to campus from town was attacked by unidentified individuals who stabbed him and took his mobile phone late Saturday evening.

The school's security team, in collaboration with the Gomoa Potsin Neighborhood Watch Committee, conducted investigations that resulted in the arrest of the five students. They have since been handed over to the Gomoa Potsin police for further inquiries.

Although school authorities have remained silent on the events, sources have indicated that the parents of the suspects have been contacted, and a committee is being established to investigate the matter.
