Coup in Ghana won't be supported by opposition political parties – Asiedu Nketiah
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) affirms its commitment to preventing any coup d'état in Ghana, in light of the unsettling incidents of military takeovers in neighboring countries. Chairman of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, expressed these sentiments during a ceremony in Accra where eleven NDC members were inaugurated as National Executive Committee members.
Mr. Nketiah underscored that opposition parties in Ghana are dedicated to safeguarding the nation's stability and democratic consolidation. He acknowledged the concerns surrounding opposition groups collaborating with military adventurists to stage coups in the sub-region but assured that Ghana's opposition has a different stance.
"We in the opposition pride ourselves as the architects of this democratic consolidation, as the architects of the stability we are enjoying. We in the opposition are the architects. And so, we are ready to protect it and to protect the constitution we have signed into action," he affirmed.
Mr. Nketiah also called on the newly appointed executives to rise to the challenge of their roles, emphasizing that their duty is a call to action rather than an honor. He urged all party members to contribute to the party's overarching goals, regardless of their current roles.
