Alleged car snatcher beaten to death Central region.

In Awutu Bosomabena, Central Region's Awutu Senya District, a notorious car thief met a fatal end at the hands of an enraged mob. Meanwhile, his partner remains in custody under the watchful eye of the Awutu Breku District Police Command.

Sources reveal that the deceased criminal, in the company of another suspect, forcibly seized a Hyundai i10 taxi bearing the registration number GE 5718-22 from Nsawam.

These individuals, both residents of Nsawam, reportedly had a pattern of engaging taxi drivers from Nsawam and then robbing them of their vehicles in the Awutu region of the Central Region.

The duo's fortune took a turn for the worse when they hired a taxi driver from Nsawam and attempted to steal his vehicle in an area near the Awutu Bosomabena village.

The taxi driver found himself under attack and sounded an alarm, prompting nearby residents and local farmers to rush to the scene. They managed to apprehend one of the suspects, subjecting him to a beating by the mob.

According to an eyewitness, "They initially boarded the taxi in Nsawam, but upon reaching the Awutu area, one of them claimed to need something from the vehicle. Suddenly, one of the suspects launched an assault on the driver in the front seat, gripping his throat."

"Alerted by the driver's cries for help, some motorbike taxi riders (Okada boys) hurried to the scene. The deceased attempted to flee into the bushes but was apprehended and subjected to a fatal beating. The police were promptly called in to retrieve the deceased's body. It's worth noting that this area has seen a surge in robberies, so the local residents remain vigilant."
