Fatal shooting incident in Nsawam Adoagyiri leaves two dead and two wounded.

A shooting incident in Nsawam Adoagyiri, Eastern Region, has resulted in the deaths of two individuals. These two unidentified individuals were among a group of four who suffered gunshot injuries and were swiftly transported to Nsawam government hospital on Tuesday. The incident occurred within the context of an ongoing chieftaincy dispute in the area.

Recently, tensions escalated as representatives of the Abuakwa Traditional Council attempted to install a parallel chief for Nsawam Adoagyiri under the protection of heavy police and military presence. This action led to one person sustaining a gunshot wound.

This move incited resentment among Nsawam Adoagyiri residents, who have aligned themselves with Akyem Kotoku. The incident on Tuesday unfolded during a procession through Nsawam's main streets, organized by the parallel chief Chief Barima Adu Korkoor III. This procession followed his return from the Ofori Panin Fie in Kyebi, where he swore allegiance to Okyehene and the Abuakwa Traditional Council following his recent enstoolment.

While the police have initiated investigations into the violent event that resulted in the loss of two lives within the municipality, local inhabitants are growing increasingly concerned about the overall security situation. There is also a prevailing fear that retaliatory actions could escalate matters further if they are not promptly addressed by key stakeholders, including the Ministry of National Security and the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.
